I am on their mailing list and send their alerts on to my wife in a ‘jokey fashion’ when they arrive, as she once expressed an interest in the place (along with every other place imagineable that anyone could have a holiday).
My next door neighbour had a caravan there for some time in the 80’s.
We were going to have our caravan there, but then then my Dad got done for DD (for the third time) and we sold the Caravan…

Lived about 5 mins walk from it for about 10 years in the 80s and 90s – it was about 8 years into that period before I set foot in the place. Suppose that’s because I don’t have a caravan and had no kids to take to the “amusements”. I remember it being badly affected by flooding once or twice, especially the easter when the good friday agreement was sorted out in Ireland – can’t remember / be bothered to google which year that was!!

I Caught a 22Ib pike out of Heron Lake in 1981 and as I was netting it another one shot out of the reeds and attacked it.

Was the one that attacked it even bigger?
And was it on a spinner?

I like the way someone on the Billing town wikipedia page with a grudge against the caravanners has tried to put people off by suggesting that the place stinks cos of the local tip.
If the band ever play the ‘drome, in a festival along the lines of Camber Sands organised by me & my mum, which could be very wet indeed, I’m sure they’ll have made sure to stop off and tell the villagers of Lower Billing what the villagers of Top Billing have been saying about them. They might also give a discount to E. Billing residents.
Just be glad I never did ‘put it in the microwave till its Bill Withers’ in the ‘Bill’ thread.

Believe it or not it was at a guess under 10lb, and it was taken on a dead sea bait, Herring I think. Saw pike taking Moorhens/Coots off there regularly.

We had a holiday there in the early 70s, and my younger brother fell in the river – he claims he was pulled in by a fish!
