Bottleneck At Capel Curig by Half Man Half Biscuit (2000) discussed...

Remember those summer days (and summer nights!!) when life was all surfing and hotrods, catching a wave and doing 140 with the top end floored? Well, ‘Bottleneck at Capel Curig’ is the opposite of that.

This is the British version of surf music, possibly set to a Blind Willie Johnson tune, in which the surfin’ safari grinds to a halt in a snarl-up on the A4086. In this Surf City there are two boys for every girl, and the cuckolded one ends up living his days out in misery, listening to Sleater-Kinney and waiting for a non-existent phone to ring. As in real life, there is some hope of redemption towards the end; but Neil Morrissey is still a knobhead.
