I always say ‘Laura Ashley’ when I mean ‘Ann Summers’. Has provoked a lot of eyebrow-raising over the years but never any giggles. And doesn’t quite happen often enough for me ever to remember not to do it.
The other way round might get more giggles I suppose, but then I’ve never knowingly intended to refer to Laura Ashley.

The character Buffy Summers, from ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ had the middle name Ann. Surely an opportunity there for marketing a spinoff combined stake and – well, you can see where this is going, can’t you?
