In Scotland, between the Clyde and the Forth. Not as famous as Hadrian’s, nor as well-preserved. Begun in 142 C.E., and took around 12 years to complete, resulting in it appearing on Rome’s Worst Cowboy Builders, on Channel V.

Was considered the northern boundary of the Roman Empire. However numerous fortifications have subsequently been discovered, with 2 even to the north of Inverness.

I used to live very close to the Antonine Wall in Falkirk.
Twas very popular with the local – especially with the youngsters who used to go along at night and learn a little about the history while getting hammered on cheap cider.

Didn’t meet Rodney or Lynsey when I walked the AW this April. Pleasantly surprised about how much of it, well the ditch really, it’s possible to find. The wall itself hasn’t survived as it was built of turf as opposed to the stone of Hadrian’s Wall. The photo above shows a section of the wall’s foundation in New Kilpatrick cemetery.

***ONLY CONNECT SPOILER ALERT***
Just watched the grand final of Series 13, in which one of the clues in the missing vowels round (subject: Walls) was NT NNW LL. Neither of the teams got it: can you?
(Actually, posting it on this page was a bit of a give-away.)

I live very close to it fairly close to the graveyard above, in fact), and what do you know it’s got its own Twitter account: https://mobile.twitter.com/AntonineWall

While up in Falkirk towards the end of last season, decided to seek out the Antonine Wall. Walked from the wonderful Falkirk Wheel through some quite boring countryside in search of said wall. Obviously built by someone, possibly Ant himself, who had swerved the Checkatrade. Gutted to find earthworks rather than an actual stone built construction. If I were a warrior intent on attacking the wall, I would have found it impossible. Not because of the formidable defences ahead of me. Rather, I would be pissing myself laughing at the ditch and mound#. Three steps and you’re over the top.
Great area for footie though. Falkirk FC, Stenhousemuir FC, recently promoted and managed by former Everton man, Gary Naysmith, and Camelon Juniors FC. Sadly, the old home of East Stirlingshire FC is an overgrown wasteland.
# maybe the word ‘mound’ is an exaggeration.
