Camberwick Green; staple TV diet of many generation-HMHB/Watch with Mother kids. I have the Camberwick/Trumpton/Chigley box set, bought ostensibly for my kids. They gave it five minutes and declared it “boring”, so it was left to me. The one where Windy Miller gets pissed on cider and passes out sticks in the mind.

There was a fleeting, quite magical period about 5 years ago when I discovered that nickelodeon had a ‘classics’ splinter group of programming on a Friday night. It started about 7 and all the true, catatonic state enducing, televisual experiences of my early 70’s childhood played out for the next three hours. Bagpuss, Camberwick Green, Trumpton, Mr Benn (god bless you Tony), king Rollo, Crystal Tips and Alistair, Chigley, Parsley the Lion…. And much, much more.
A thing of real beauty.
And then they pulled it.
