OLD APPLEjack
No-one? For shame…
Mainstay of my childhood Friday and Sunday nights (Superstars and Ski Sunday) – I remember him getting very excited when plucky Brit Konrad Bartelski almost won a World Cup downhill event.
Also the original host of A Question of Sport, and stood in for David Coleman for a week or two when he was ill, at some point in the late 80s.

“Here’s my favourite chat-up line: I’m a mate of David Vine” – Steve “Interesting” Davies, according to Spitting Image.

I remember that Applejack! Weren’t the conditions much better earlier in the day when the crap skiers were going down, so Bartelski’s time stayed as the fastest until almost the last skier?

Russell Dean
Wasn’t he also on a weird kid’s TV show named How, too, along with Jack Hargreaves and two others?

Dave (or I could be Mike)
Yes, Superstars and Ski Sunday were essential parts of my childhood as well. I probably also heard his dulcet tones commentating on the Eurovision Song Contest (1974, the one that gave us ABBA), but I’m pretty sure I didn’t catch his compèring of Miss World the following year – I was only a wee nipper after all…
