Nigel Blackwell again magically takes me back to my childhood. Much older than he am I but I still recall the annoyance of opening up my sticker packet and gazing upon the smirk of another Bobby Tambling. And he is a Jehovahs Witness.

Were Umbro nipple tassels unique to Bristol City? I’m sure the equivalent kit for Manchester City had a club crest on one side.

Had a testimonial at Ashton Gate in July 2012 to which 4000 fans turned up. Conewankery (q v) led to the Man City legends team arriving 45 minutes late, but they still beat their Bristol counterparts 2 – 1.

@ post 4 above, while he was player/manager at Yeovil Town he signed some of his Bristol City mates, Paul Randall from the Rovers, whose career was documented some time ago by Exxo, Alan Pardew from Dulwich Hamlet and an I T Botham ( b. Heswall, Cheshire ) who buggered off to play cricket again for Somerset in their tour of the West Indies, spring 1986 ..

I may be wrong but I believe in my John Toshack annual there was a quiz where Tosh wore shirts he’d swapped over the years and you had to work out from a few clues whose shirt it was – I’m pretty sure Gorgon was one of them.
