In PBR terms, Could be Jan 6th (Epiphany), Jan 22nd-23rd (Anniversary of the Battle of Rorke’s Drift) or Jan 26th (just one of the 365 Australia days in the calendar).

In PBR terms, could also be Jan 9th; as the day when in 1909, the Shackleton expedition reached its furthest point south.
Half of Jan and Dean, notable for Dead Man’s Curve, one of the few songs about car accidents. Offhand I can only think of Crawling From The Wreckage, Wreck On The Highway and Stereotype.

Suzy and Jeffery on Auto American by Blondie is not only about a car crash, but is also shite.

Featureless tv producer steve
“Bat Out of Hell” by Meat Loaf includes an outlandishly dramatic motorcycle crash, and is also shite. It also may irk the purists.

A car crash of a song was Ray Peterson’s 1960 epic – Tell Laura I Love Her – brilliantly twisted by Billy Connelly – ” …and there was Laura, and there was Laura…and there was Laura…….. but I couldn’t find the bit I was looking for….”

What happened to Jan who used to post on here regularly who was a mate of Eddie Argos?

I’ve got a signed Jan Molby shirt somewhere from a charity match I played in with him that’s bigger than some two-man tents.

My favourite car crash song would have to be Transfusion by Nervous Norvous.

@Eric. Classic. Has anyone covered it? Would be even better if somebody re-recorded it with a bit of rhythm and timing (I’m guessing the producer at the time just didn’t think the 50’s were ready for a rocking version where the lyrics were actually in time with some rocking beats).
@myself. I’ve just realised the above comment makes it sound as if me and Jan played in the same shirt at the same time as some sort of contribution to the deep house victims, deep house victims. We didn’t.

@Bobby – I was hoping for some harmonium at the end of that link.

@exxo – Mark E Smith covered Transfusion on his “Smith & Blaney” LP a few years back. A review found on Google notes
“The basic song here is completely unrecognizable and Smith’s vocals seem to indicate that he may well have been in need of a transfusion himself at the time of recording.”

@Exxo – there wasn’t a producer as such. Norvous recorded it himself as a demo. He sent it to a DJ who added the crash effects and played it on his show. It became popular and was picked up by a record company who released it as it was. Top 10 hit.

Hi all,
Little bit off topic but here goes…
I am boxing in July in aid of cancer research UK,and as a result I need a ring walk tune.Obviously it will be a HMHB number, but I really can’t see beyond Trumpton Riots at the moment.
I was just wondering if any of the fine minds that grace this site have any better ideas.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Many thanks

@AAS good choice imo, and here’s hoping you raise lots of dosh. I trust you’ll be wearing Joy Division boxing gloves? (You could wear suitably-printed poly bags over your gloves during the ring walk.)

Just subvert all the macho nonsense by sidling out gingerly and embracing the margins.
Since Mike’s already bagged the glove branding I’ll also suggest the tennis racket face thing.

If you are a Heavyweight , how about Carry on Cremating. If your opponent is Bruiser McHuge, then I suggest the Coroners Footnote.

Perhaps not quite the right image, but possibly Eno Collaboration’s “I danced within an elven ring of quicksilver delight”?
The finest walk tune of all time has to be Homer Simpson’s ‘Why Can’t We Be Friends?’ by Smashmouth.
