Married 4 times. First husband was Derek Fowlds .I remember there being some tabloid criticism of Lesley, blaming her for the divorce. What was overlooked was Mr. Dereks bizarre relationship with Basil Brush.

I was also more of a Magpie person. Bizarrely looking back I seem to have been an ITV person during the week after school, but a BBC person at the weekends for no particular reason. Hence: Magpie, Swap Shop and Grandstand rather than Blue Peter, Tiswas and World of Sport. Definitely Jenny Hanley for me (has anybody seen the Hammer Horror she did with Dennis Waterman?). Stranks I know only from nostalgia programme segments focused on her lack of corsetry.

I have very vivid memories of Lesley Judd coming down from some lighthouse or another on a rope slide of some sort and screaming,’Grab me!’ to the gathered crew of the pitching small craft who waited below. The boat nearly overturned in the resulting rush to the side by the roll necked ruffians.

Cropped up in Thatcher: A Very British Revolution. There was a clip of her hosting a Question Time type programme with an audience of kids interviewing Thatcher. A fairly bizarre combination of things.

Anyone who still prefers Lesley Judd could do worse than watch tonight’s edition of ‘Pointless Celebrities’, in which she partners Peter (‘JKS’) Purves.
(Not in a ‘e’ual way of course, though interviews around the publication of his autobiography ‘Here’s One I Wrote Earlier’ might have suggested his surname was a homophone.)
