The most famous product of Des Moines, Iowa. One of their tracks bears the name “If Rain Is What You Want”. Another is entitled “Do Nothing”, although it bears little resemblance to the morose Ska original.

They’re going to be fussed over on Friday too, when they knock the loop pedal gimp off number one. Who the fucking hell are chart compilers, we won’t be thinking, as we belt out one of HMHB’s top 200 songs (but not one of their top 150), down the Arse on Friday.

According to FourFourTwo magazine (it’s not my only reading material, honest), David De Gea is ‘a massive Slipknot fan.’ Golden opportunity for a version of Vatican Broadside from the Italian squad at Wembley before their match with Spain kicks off then.
The FFT article in question would I’m sure be of some interest to our boys, since it’s about 80s cult figure Pat Nevin, who played for Tranmere for 5 seasons. It’s an excellent article, exploring his musical tastes and political views as much as his football. There are then a few short paragraphs about other footballers with tastes that ‘lean towards the eclectic,’ finishing with De Gea. So now you know.

Nevin’s recent book is highly recommended, and I’d be surprised if Mr. B hasn’t already had a look. Although I can’t say I’ve read every word of the hardback standing in Waterstones, I’ve read most of it, enough that I can now wait for it be a cheap second hand paperback.

Metalhead comedian Ed Gamble mentioned the band in this week’s Times of London ‘saturday review’ ‘my culture fix’ (all lower case), revealing that his most recent walk-on music was their Grammy-winning ‘Before I Forget’. (I assume he reached the stage before the last 18 seconds of the song, which feature the Morse code for SLIPKNOT and Corey Taylor saying “You’re wasting it” played backwards.)
