The original epicyclic hub gear. Now owned and manufactured by Sun Ray.
I had a 5-speed Sturmey-Archer hub on my Pashley (qv) Princess.

Brumbiscuit
Now made in Taiwan. Their 3-speed hub ‘graced’ the rear wheels of countless bikes up to the 70s and 80s. Reliable, but heavy, and prone to false neutrals. You also needed to back pedal to change gear.
Their 8-speed current offering has direct drive in gear 1, which is rather ridiculous. Harry Quinn would turn in his grave if one of his bikes was equipped with a SA hub.

JUST MARK
I remember a Raleigh Grifter with gripshift (careful!) and 3 colour indicators for the SA gears. Always had problems with my toggle chain.
