The halcyon days of finding a copy of Parade in the hedge bottom,… priceless.

Nicely discreet use of the TE cover there, CtSO, though it does make it slightly difficult to read the top caption ‘Na-Nookie Of The North’, of which I was particularly proud.

Sorry, a bit subtle. For those with inadequate screens, this month’s Teenage Eskimo (Ed: Dr D) features ‘Na-Nookie Of The North’, ‘Seal-Clubbers’ Wives’ and ‘The Confessions Of A Teenage Lapp Dancer’. Don’t miss it.

There was a feature; ‘In & out of Ila the Inuit’ but the magazine has been re titled. You can’t say ‘Eskimo’ any more, it’s political correctness gone mad according to the daily Mail

In the US (especially in the lower 48, where ignorance of arctic-circle issues knows no bounds), the word “Eskimo” has not yet been rendered politically incorrect. But it is my understanding that in Canada the term is considered quite offensive, and has been replaced by either “Inuit” or “First Nation.”
Yet the Edmonton Eskimos continue to play in the Canadian Football League, just as the (far more offensive) Washington Redskins carry on in the NFL. God forbid folks give up their precious sports mascots in the name of respecting fellow human beings.
And on we go.

Problem is in Alaska half of the indigenous peoples (though I don’t know what proportion of the people) actually seem to prefer ‘Eskimo’ to ‘Inuit’, because half of them (the Yupik peoples) spent most of their history fighting against people called ‘Inuit’.
