“The Golden Bough” is also the name of a track that appears on The Coral’s “The Curse of Love” album. While the band’s earlier style was panned by one critic as “mediocre lad rock”, “The Curse of Love” is said by some to represent a departure in a new, folkier direction.

The Golden Bough runs to 12 volumes so is unlikely to fit on Adam Boyle’s passenger seat, and was once described as the world’s longest explanatory footnote (Frazer was trying to understand a reference in Virgil’s Aeneid). I’d like to think that, if around today, he would be a regular and erudite contributor to this site.
Incidentally, is the pronunciation corrected when the song is performed live?
