“Put on some Velvets”
So… what do we know about the Velvets?
The A to Z of HMHB
There are 14 Half Man Half Biscuit albums, plus two roundup compilations, as well as 4 EPs and a handful of one-off songs. No 'Greatest Hits'. Indulge yourself by starting here.
In which we chose the nation's favourite Half Man Half Biscuit song. For the next four years, anyway.

Always will adore them and impact they had upon a young fellow in the 60’s .Upon discovering Maureen Tuckers political views I ask myself can ones love of a band diminish because one finds her views hideous ? Also Nico was a White Supremicist ?

@PeterMc – there must be hundreds of musicians I like whose politics I don’t agree with (and indeed other artists/writers). It’s not as if Moe Tucker’s old-age Tea Party support was particularly influential on the The Velvets musically or lyrically. And from what I’ve read, it’s a big jump from Nico ‘reflected the racist/anti-Semitic views of her upbringing’ (odious though those are) to class her as a white supremacist.
I’m more concerned that the picture used here airbrushes the real creative force of the Velvet Underground (John Cale) out of history but using one with his vastly inferior replacement, Doug Yule.
(Sorry about that, GWA, probably showing my ignorance of the Velvets in my choice of picture – CtSO)

You’re in good company Chris. When David Bowie first saw them he went backstage and chatted at length to “Lou Reed” only to find out later that Reed had left the band, and the person he’d been speaking to was Doug Yule.

If I listen to too much Velvets, I am worried I might suffer endless felts.
