There’s only been one Gail in Corrie (as opposed to seven different characters called Sonia). However, two Corrie actresses have in real life been called Gail, as opposed to only one called Sonia.
Has had six different surnames in the programme, due to frightful bad luck with spouses (spice?). Why do women honestly bother changing their name? Anyway, the “curse of Gail” is as lethal as the curse of HMHB: Brian was stabbed, Richard drowned in the canal, Joe drowned in the Lake District and was the only one she was actually accused of killing – still don’t know how she got away with that one. Michael (who she met, as you do, when he appeared as a bogus official hoping to burgle her) died of a heart attack. Martin Platt is her only (currently) surviving former husband.
14 years behind Ken Barlow, but won’t surprise anyone if she ends up 14 years ahead (after marrying him and killing him off of course).
