I hope it bodes well that Light at the End of the Tunnel is effectively top seed.

Dickhead in quicksand
My but this looks fun. The ties could be decided by who’s got the best attack, or the best defence, or the shit decisions of a South African referee.

Stringy bob
Well this is immediately horrible!
23 October 2015
THIS LEADEN PAUL
I know what you mean, Stringy.
Tie number 15 for the live coverage.

Blimey – CtSO works fast…and this looks impossible! Whittling down 192 genius songs to 32 was pretty tough – but this is going to cause physical pain. I have a high pain threshold though…and with a five hour drive to County Durham coming up this evening, I know how to kill those miles – no sleeping at the wheel for me with this draw to work through.

So who’s running the book on this?
23 October 2015
GOK WAN ACOLYTE
Is a talking Ray Winstone head going to pop up between matches to inform us of the latest odds? Look to be some awkward ties there, NSD v Trad Arr Tune and Bad Wools v Stiperstones being particularly hard to call imo
23 October 2015
Half man half bike
Some tasty fixtures here. Potential giant-killing for debutant Adam Boyle?

Tough draw that for Boyley.

TLATEOTT (ITLOAOT) vs ABHCLRA
Match preview – player profiles
Any team hoping to overcome TLATEOTT (ITLOAOT) is obviously going to have to nullify the threat of the player simply known as “Steve”. The beating heart of the team, his lack of distinguishing features nevertheless make him every commentator’s nightmare – although he tries to make up for his anonymous appearance by turning up to the game in a swanky Iambic Pentameter (latest model).
Lining up for ABHCLRA is the eponymous Adam Boyle. He was recently taken to task by his manager over his “refuelling habits” (he was photographed outside a nigthtclub at 4 am, kebab in hand and flanked by the Gallagher brothers), but he now claims the post-match drinking sessions are a thing of the past. Expect to see a fitter, more focused Adam Boyle going into the tournament, with a recent growth of facial hair that means he bears more than a passing resemblance to a young Eric Gerets.

How’s your luck TUCOLO? First round exit last time out when the post-competition analysis indicated it could have gone much further with a kinder draw. Must have been hoping for a better run this time … only to be drawn against the defending champion.
Most of those pretty easy for me, but 7 and 8 will need a lot of soul-searching. The only consolation being that it is unlikely my single vote will be the difference, but as Steve Earle once said on an album sleeve, “if you don’t vote, don’t bitch.”

Only two or three away wins in that lot I reckon.

On the other hand I now count seven possibles.

For me the Chelsea of these is Stiperstones.

Thems the vagaries has got a tough draw but I expect it to ride away victorious on away goals

tough draw for most promising newcomers, pity that pair no 10 have met on such early stage

I’m glad there’s plenty of time to consider because match 10 is going to be very difficult. I’d expect 10, 12 and 16 to be moved for television as potential Cup classics.
23 October 2015
Oggy
Rock and roll… Is the worst song on that album, how’d it make the last 32?!
I really wish I’d checked on here recently, I missed the vote!
24 October 2015
Loop
Ah crap tie for Boyle! (holding head in hands nervously) I just can’t watch! Tooting from the sidelines in support!
In effect, I’m surprised it made it this far but quite pleased all the same! It’s like Accrington Stanley vs. Chelsea (I can hear you all now repeating it out loud in that bloody accent followed by “Who are they?” as is obligatory once anyone mentions them).
One can only hope!
(For those who don’t know, by mentioning ‘tooting’, Loop is being modest and obliquely referring to this – CtSO)

National Shite Day v We Built This Village on a Trad Arr. Tune? That’s got to be the ITV’s live game. Hopefully Garth Crooks will cross over from the beeb to bring his expert punditry to the proceedings.

Aaaargh. Tie number 14 is a horrible one for me, 2 of my absolute top faves.
I think both would make my top 5.

Oggy – I would have ‘Rock and roll’ that in my all time top 5! Vive la difference. It’s the Gwatkinistas I don’t get, I always skip that…see also ‘Fix it’ another one I don’t much care for but which has an Ultras sur style following.
26 October 2015
Oggy
I don’t dislike rock and roll, it’s just far from my top 32.
When are the next 15 ties going live?
26 October 2015
TAYLO
Indeed Loop has tootled on Adam Boyle twice (Manchester Ritz and Edinburgh Liquid Rooms). However, I sang TLATEOTT for a band called The Hidden Gem in Sheffield a few years ago, so this is a toughie for me!
(Adam Boyle for the record)

Lol Chris, stop boosting my ego, my head won’t fit out of the door and I’ll become intolerable. God damn it you all have to vote for it now! Hehe. Such a toughie as light at the end of said tunnel is one of my favourites. Got to stick to my own like!

I wonder how many new converts / visitors to the site there are since the last LF Cup. Leading to a slant towards favouriting songs from 90B and UfO?
29 October 2015
Two fat feet
Possibly, but if it didn’t lead to a particular bias towards the last two albums in the last 32, it probably won’t favour those which did make it through.
29 October 2015
jitsu_g
Going through the ties I have got 12 home wins and only 3 away, a couple went to penalties but the home side prevailed. Obviously playing at home is still an advantage
31 October 2015
jitsu_g
I clearly can’t count. But the missing tie was also home. So 13/16 home wins
