Easy for me – Wrong Grave, cos it has a proper tune and also for “I’m inconsolable, and at times uncontrollable, but she wouldn’t know cos she’s 300 metres away”

I’m with you here Max. However you’re tending another wrong grave, one 100 metres further away from the wrong grave that is been tended in the first place.

One of my favourite tunes,” But then almost inevitably Claire Rayner appeared”

TWO FAT FEET
Tending the Wrong Grave. Instant classic.

I can’t decide. Both brilliant.
I’ve always found it so funny that it’s 200 METRES away (not yards). I guess it’s because it scans better that way, but it’s those little touches that make this band such a joy.

Easy choice – Tour Jacket. Superb observations and witticisms, reminds me of Velvet Underground’s The Gift and has a great chorus to round things off. Brilliant 🙂

TWO FAT FEET
I’ve always been fond of Tour Jacket and I did vote for it, I always enjoy those tracks where Nigel goes on a rambling monologue and this one has some great moments (comments about Jackie being unstable, I Can’t Believe It’s Not Focus, “Bob, ‘who didn’t go our way’ “). But Tending The Wrong Grave far surpasses it for its brilliant subject and spot-on poetry. And a bit of rambling monologue. Good call on The Gift by the way, although I might have missed the gags in that one.

“I Can’t Believe It’s Not Focus” – genius!

Look Dad No Tunes
Tour Jacket for me. Me and the missus love this, it’s “our tune”.

Tending the Wrong Grave for me – “I’ve been sharing my innermost thoughts with an Edward McCrea … / But she wouldn’t know cos she’s 200m away” wins it for me.

I would also add that Tending the Wrong Grave is the better song, could make a Wembley appearance.

“Curse those in charge of plots”, “Edward McCrea” and one of Nigel’s ace guitar-solo-introduction parodies in “let’s complain!” add up to a comfortable “Tending the Wrong Grave” victory for this listener

Hmm, missed the group stage – a few dodgy decisions by the looks. Were UEFA officials involved? Anyway, has to be Tour Jacket. I particularly love the deep and nuanced “Bob, who didn’t go our way”.

Away win I reckon.

Ferenc Puskás to you
Can’t help but feel this is a 1st Round, Aldershot vs. Mansfield sort of tie. Two minnows, neither of which can really sustain a major run further.
Let’s complain!

An embarassingly one-sided game for me. I recently listened to every single one of my HMHB songs on the Ipod on a pretty long car journey (passing Parbold at 7:15, in fact) and I still couldn’t be arsed with Tour Jacket.
Tending The Wrong Grave is a Champions League contender, perhaps a possible winner. That opening verse is a belter, then it drifts off into delightful nonsense, and the daft rhymes for “tending”, plus quite a punchy musical number too.

A swift and simple decision on this one, which is great because it also gives me time to get some chips.

Am I the only one having trouble voting? Every time I click on ‘Vote Here’ I just get the same page back again. I’d hate to have to launch an official complaint – a Panorama investigation at this stage could be disastrous.
(It’s not just worked out by counting up the comments is it?)

I haven’t heard of anyone else having had problems, John (and believe me, this lot would let me know). Some of the matches have over 300 votes recorded now, so things seem to be OK generally.
By the way folks, despite the quantity of votes, one or two matches are desperately close still. Others, perhaps not so…
